Our climate-related ambition and targets are as follows:

Interim Target: 30% reduction by 2030 against a 2020 baseline
Long-term Ambition: Carbon Neutrality by 2040*

*This excludes Kumba Iron Ore due to the currently stated life of mine for its assets. We will update our climate ambition and targets on completion of our merger with Teck.

Climate change performance

In 2024, our total Scope 1 and 2 emissions decreased by 8% year on year to 11.6 Mt CO₂e (2023: 12.5 Mt CO₂e). This equates to a 14% reduction compared with the 2016 baseline on which our 2030 target is set.
