LME Week is the annual gathering of the global metals community in London. At Anglo American, LME Week provides an important platform for us to connect with our customers and other stakeholders, as we seek to draw on the shared skills and experiences of the industrial sector, and shape a more sustainable future for our respective industries.
With the Covid-19 pandemic continuing to impact global travel, we replicated last year’s format, hosting a virtual presentation and panel session, live-streamed to remote participants.
During the session, our Executive Head of Marketing for Base Metals, Paul Ward, reflected on the role of LME metals in the transition to a greener energy sector, before discussing our approach to sustainability, including our roadmap to decarbonise our operations and our how we are positioning Anglo American as the ideal partner to provide material solutions for a lower carbon future, shaping a successful framework for the energy transition.
Ruben Fernandes, our CEO for Base Metals, then provided an update on our Base Metals business, with a focus on our Quellaveco project in Peru. They were then joined for a panel session by Anglo American Chief Executive, Mark Cutifani, and our CEO for Marketing, Peter Whitcutt, who shared their views on shaping a sustainable future, forging effective collaborations and how to meet increasing demand for key resources with products that are responsibly sourced and produced.
If you were unable to join us for the live-stream, don’t worry. You can register here to listen to our on-demand recording.
