At Anglo American, Global Safety Day is our most important day of the year. Discussing and reflecting on our safety practices helps to keep them top of mind. That’s why, for more than a decade, we have taken the time, together with our colleagues, to pause and reflect on our safety performance, and to reinforce our commitment to bring to life our most important value – that of Safety.
This year’s theme, ‘We are Proud to Stand Up for Safety’, highlighted the unique role we all must play to ensure safety is always at the heart of everything we do, as well as the importance of learning from each other, sharing opinions, experiences and insights, and challenging one another.
Around the world, our offices and operations marked Global Safety Day and our organisation’s commitment to becoming injury and fatality free with activities that spanned all facets of our approach to safety – from physical and psychological safety to mental wellbeing.
From all employee sessions hosted by our leadership at our mine sites, to edutainment opportunities in our corporate offices, we made sure everyone could take away valuable learning and enriching opportunities to further our progress toward our goal of Zero Harm.
