Anglo American’s participation at PDAC 2026

As part of the programme, CEO of Anglo American, Duncan Wanblad took part in two high profile discussions, including Invest in Canada Day’s Canadian Critical Minerals Forum with Invest in Canada Day’s CEO, The Honourable Laurel Broten, where he shared the vision for Anglo Teck as a global critical minerals champion rooted in Canada’s strengths as a mining jurisdiction. Duncan also joined Canada’s Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, The Honourable Tim Hodgson, and RBC CEO Dave McKay in a conversation hosted by Canadian law firm Torys, exploring the geopolitical importance of critical minerals, Canada’s opportunity for leadership, and the collective urgency needed to seize that opportunity.

Digitising the Canadian Digital Core Library

On the sidelines of PDAC, Anglo American joined the Government of Canada, Creative Destruction Lab, Laurentian University and industry partners, including Teck, in signing a Declaration of Intent to explore the creation of the Canadian Digital Core Library (CDCL). This initiative aims to digitise the country’s geological drill core and build an AI ready national geoscience platform, giving explorers of all sizes access to a shared foundation of high-quality data. Richard Price, our Chief Legal & Corporate Affairs Officer, signed on behalf of Anglo American alongside senior federal ministers, including The Honourable Tim Hodgson, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, and The Honourable Evan Solomon, Minister of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Innovation, marking an important step toward modernising geoscience infrastructure across the country.

For Anglo American, the CDCL aligns closely with our commitment to applying cutting edge science and technology to mineral discovery. This partnership reinforces our role in accelerating discovery, reducing risk and unlocking Canada’s vast mineral potential in support of the global energy transition, helping discover the mines of tomorrow and deliver the minerals the world urgently needs.

Partnering for the next chapter in critical minerals

PDAC 2026 highlighted Anglo American’s continued leadership in shaping the future of critical minerals, innovation and sustainable mining. From our vision of Anglo Teck as a global critical minerals champion rooted in Canada’s strengths as a mining jurisdiction to advancing geoscience digitisation and sharing expertise across international forums, our teams demonstrated the depth and breadth of capability and leadership we bring to the sector.

As we look ahead, the partnerships, insights and commitments forged at PDAC will continue to guide our efforts to responsibly unlock the mineral resources the world needs for a more sustainable future.
