We understand that achieving our current and future business objectives depends on recruiting and retaining the best talent across the world – and supporting our people to develop their full potential within Anglo American.

Cybersecurity remains a strategically critical capability for Anglo American, underpinning the resilience of our operations and safeguarding our people, assets and communities.

As global demand for cyber expertise continues to rise, we are investing in developing talent within our operating regions to build sustainable pathways into the profession and strengthen long-term organisational capability.

Building capability through early careers

Since the launch of our Cybersecurity Early Careers Programme in 2021, we have evolved from a local skills initiative into a global talent pipeline. In 2025, we appointed our first two cyber interns in Brazil, who are developing human factors and operational technology skills while working toward an industry-recognised qualification.

This global expansion was supported by four additional apprentices in the UK, further bolstering the resilience of our Security Operations Centre and our Governance, Risk and Compliance teams. These new cohorts highlight the value of targeted early-career investment in building critical cyber capability across our footprint.

A proven model for attracting and retaining talent

Our model continues to deliver strong outcomes. Of the 14 Level 4 cybersecurity apprentices in the UK, 11 have progressed into analyst roles, including six distinction level graduates retained in 2025. This demonstrates our effectiveness in developing regionally grounded cyber talent.

By combining structured technical training with real world experience, apprentices and interns gain a holistic understanding of cybersecurity and our business. Our dedicated Early Careers Hub in Scarborough remains central to UK development and a key enabler of remote learning for participants in other regions.

Scaling a globally connected model

As cyber threats extend across borders, we are developing an early careers model that can be adapted to diverse operational contexts. In Peru, we have introduced a shared internship structure in which 40% of an intern’s time supports the local governance team, strengthening cross-regional collaboration and capability.

Planned expansion into Chile and South Africa in 2026 and 2027 will further establish a scalable, globally connected early careers pathway. This model supports the development of local talent pools while embedding collaboration across regions and functions from the start of a cyber career.

Creating sustainable, long-term value

Our cyber early careers strategy enhances workforce resilience and succession planning while reinforcing Anglo American’s commitment to developing skills across both established and emerging markets. By investing early and providing clear development pathways, we are equipping future cyber professionals to strengthen our long term resilience in an increasingly complex digital landscape.
