Each year on 15 June, we celebrate the International Day of Women in Mining (IDWIM), organised by International Women in Mining (IWIM) – the global not-for-profit dedicated to advancing equity within the natural resources sector. As an IWIM corporate partner, Anglo American is proud to participate in this annual event, celebrating the achievements of all who identify as women and the advancement of inclusion in mining.
With the theme for this year’s IDWIM ‘Voices of Impact: A Year of Resilience and Recognition’ we asked our colleagues at Anglo American what it means to celebrate the perseverance, contributions, talent and spirit of the women in mining today and future generations. The theme underpinning IDWIM 2025 highlights the innovation, leadership and lived experiences that continue to shape the mining industry across generations and borders, honouring the resilience, adaptability, and steadfast leadership driving progress at every level, from mine to boardroom.
Creating an environment where all employees are supported, valued, and able to bring their whole selves to work is a priority for Anglo American. Through our partnership with IWIM, collaborating on critical areas such as research and cross-industry mentoring, we are developing a better understanding of how we can foster a workplace environment where women truly thrive in successful careers, while advancing the employment, retention and progress of women in the mining sector more broadly.
