Last week, Anglo American proudly co-hosted a celebration of the 2025 International Women in Resources Mentoring Programme (IWRMP) at our headquarters in London, alongside International Women in Mining (IWIM), which runs the programme.
The event brought together mentees, mentors and industry allies from around the world to mark the ongoing success of this transformative initiative. Welcoming guests to the event were Alison Atkinson, Chief Projects & Development Officer at Anglo American, and IWRMP Director Barbara Dischinger.
As a corporate partner of IWIM, Anglo American is committed to supporting inclusive development across the mining sector. This year, among the 20 mentees that attended the event, there were eight mentees from Anglo American. Hailing from Brazil, Chile, Peru and South Africa, these mentees reflect our global footprint and our dedication to nurturing talent in every region where we operate.
The evening was filled with connection, reflection and inspiration, as many mentees met their mentors in person for the first time. Attendees were encouraged to consider becoming mentors themselves, with a reminder that the most valuable asset is simply a willingness to listen, share and support.
Now in its eighth year, IWRMP continues to be a catalyst for change in the industry, connecting emerging female leaders with experienced mentors across more than 45 countries. Since its launch in 2018, the programme has supported over 600 mentees, helping unlock potential and build a more inclusive future for mining.
