The majority of our supply chain expenditure is organised
centrally through our global category management system. There are
21 materials and services categories, managed by our strategic
sourcing teams.

The teams are made up of specialists working across all business
units who are responsible for ensuring the system works efficiently
as well as supporting local business unit initiatives. Recent
initiatives range from the tactical, such as improving efficiency,
to the more strategic, such as creating more valuable, longer-term
partnerships with suppliers.
Centralising our global supply base has created a number of advantages for both us and our suppliers. For example, we can now devote more time to developing stronger relationships with selected suppliers. Our requirements of suppliers are also more transparent, and our administration process is more streamlined. Our global approach means that our strategic sourcing teams have been able to better understand the materials and services purchased across our company, which has reduced costs and waste, and improved total cost of ownership.
