We are transforming our global procurement and supply chain operations to become the industry leader and global benchmark for creating value in the supply chain.

Category management

The majority of our supply chain expenditure is organised centrally through our global category management system. There are 21 materials and services categories, managed by our strategic sourcing teams.

Sustainable and responsible supply chain

In 2011, Anglo American spent more than $13.8 billion with suppliers. We believe that each dollar spent should be an investment in promoting responsible business practice amongst our suppliers. Promoting a sustainable supply chain also has a mutually beneficial impact on broader society.

Our vision is sustainable, responsible local procurement that positively contributes to a resilient supply chain and the economic and social development of the communities in which we operate.

Black economic empowerment procurement

It is important for us to support the local communities where we operate and, in South Africa, ensure that Black Economic Empowerment (BEE) continues to be part of our procurement approach.
