Chile’s Safety Association (Mutual de Seguridad) has recognised the El Soldado team in Copper for notching up more than a year free from lost-time accidents (LTI).

El Soldado mine, located 132 kilometres from Santiago in the district of Nogales in Chile, has gone the equivalent of three million man hours, between February 2016 to April 2017, without having to report any LTI injuries.

We should be very proud of this important and positive milestone, as it shows that the effort and ongoing commitment to maintaining safety as the top priority in our daily work pays off.

Hennie Faul CEO of our Copper business

Anglo American

“I’d like to congratulate the entire El Soldado team for this important recognition, which brings our most important value to life. It should also be an incentive for the other operations to make sure they comply with the necessary critical controls; to stop a job if we think it’s unsafe and to report those practices that threaten our own safety and that of our colleagues.”

Safety is a core value for our business, and we’ve no doubt about our first priority: doing everything we can to keep our employees safe and well with us.
