Our work on inclusion and diversity has once again been recognised at the annual Inclusive Awards.
Liz Douglas, Group Head of People & Organisation – Group Functions, was last week (5 December, 2023) awarded this year’s Head of Diversity & Inclusion Award and the I&D team were Highly Commended for Best Diversity Team of the Year.
Additionally, Anglo American has been ranked in the Top 50 Inclusive Employers for the fifth year in a row. Now in its eighth year, the Inclusive Top 50 UK Employers List is the definitive cross-industry index harnessing both best practice and innovation with the goal of driving inclusion for all. It comprises the 50 most inclusive companies in the UK as chosen by a dedicated panel of judges, based on each organisation’s performance across all strands of diversity - gender, disability, age, LGBTQ+, race, faith, and religion.
Since establishing our global I&D vision and strategy five years ago, we have been on a journey towards full equity commitment with significant support from our IDWG to enable our worldwide goals at a global and local level. During this time, we have introduced 24 global Employee Resource Groups, with five in the UK, and launched an Apprenticeship Programme for diverse talent, expanding it to include young people with disabilities in South Africa. A key area of focus has been our industry-leading domestic violence initiatives and our campaign for a more equitable workplace, resulting in 84% of employees stating they are treated with respect regardless of their background.
