Today, we welcome Stuart Chambers as the new chairman of Anglo American. He takes over from Sir John Parker, who stepped down on 31 October after more than eight years in the role.

Speaking about his appointment, Stuart said:

Anglo American is an iconic brand. It is a really fascinating global company of relevance to us all and it’s a wonderful business to be part of… becoming its chairman is a privilege

Stuart, a chemical engineer by training, was previously the chairman of ARM Holdings, the technology company, and the consumer packaging manufacturer, Rexam, both FTSE 100 companies.

Speaking about the future of Anglo American, Stuart said: “If I look forward five, seven or 10 years, I want the young graduates coming out of mining school, for example, to think ‘I'm going to join Anglo American, because that's where the innovation happens, that's where industry leadership exists. They are best practice, that's the place, great culture, really want to be operating there.’ I would say that's my vision and I think if we create that, everything else will take care of itself.”
