We’re proud to have been recognised for excellence in sustainability for the 14th consecutive year in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index – the longest-running global sustainability benchmark. Tracey Kerr, Group Head of Safety and Sustainable Development, reflects on the success.
Launched in 1999, the Dow Jones Sustainability Index is regarded as one of the world’s foremost sustainability indices. It benchmarks the sustainability performance of leading companies, based on environmental, social and economic performance, including forward-looking indicators based on a best-in-class approach.
As one of only six mining companies in the index, Anglo American has been credited for our ongoing commitment to sustainability, particularly in our transparency through reporting on environmental and social aspects, payment transparency, mine closure, as well as impact measurement and valuation, where we scored in the top percentile of companies.
