Anglo American wins FTSE 100 Tax and People reporting awards
Anglo American's excellence in tax and people reporting has been recognised with prestigious awards at the PricewaterhouseCoopers Building Public Trust Awards.
Anglo American won the FTSE 100 Tax Reporting Award, recognising
the Group’s transparent disclosure of tax strategy, tax
performance and the wider impact of tax. This award recognises
companies that have effectively addressed government and
stakeholder expectations in their tax policies and public
information, at a time when companies’ tax strategies and
disclosures are coming under increasing scrutiny from stakeholders,
revenue authorities and wider public interest groups.
The PricewaterhouseCoopers Building Public Trust Awards also saw
Anglo American win the FTSE 100 award for People Reporting,
recognising the Group’s strength of human capital management
and employment practice.
Furthermore, Sir John Parker, Anglo American Chairman, received
the Lifetime Achievement Award, recognising his outstanding
contribution throughout his career to building trust and confidence
in the corporate sector.
In making the Tax Reporting Award, the judges said they liked
"the open and transparent discussion of tax, including tax
strategy, tax payments and relationships with tax authorities; and
also the clear links made by Anglo American between tax and their
corporate responsibility commitments, and to their wider economic
contribution."
René Médori, Finance Director of Anglo American,
said: "We are delighted to have won these awards, which recognise
both Anglo American’s commitment to the principle of
transparency and our ability to deliver that information to
stakeholders.”
Susan Symons, Tax Partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers, said that
together with other companies on the shortlist, Anglo's tax
reporting has "a strong focus on the wider impacts of tax. In doing
so, we believe they are setting a lead for others to follow."
