Anglo American announces retirement of Mervyn Walker

Anglo American plc ("Anglo American") announces that Mervyn Walker, Group Director – HR and Corporate Affairs, has decided to retire, with effect 30 June 2014. Mr Walker's successor will be announced in due course.
Mark Cutifani, Chief Executive of Anglo American, said: "I would like to thank Mervyn for everything he has done for Anglo American and, in particular, for ensuring a smooth and effective transition during 2013 as I took up my role as Chief Executive. Mervyn has provided me with strong support and sage advice and he will see through the implementation of our new organisational structure over the next three months. We wish him a happy and fulfilling retirement."
Mervyn Walker, Group Director – HR and Corporate Affairs, commented: "I have been tremendously privileged to be associated with Anglo American for eight years, firstly with Mondi and then for the last six years in my current role. The completion of our new organisational structure, providing the platform for future success, will mark the right moment for me to retire.
