Anglo American receives PwC Building Public Trust Award for FTSE100 Sustainability in Reporting
27 November, 2013
Anglo American announces that it has won the PwC Building Public Trust Award for FTSE100 “Sustainability in Reporting” for its 2012 Sustainable Development Report. Today’s recognition follows Anglo American’s receipt of the PwC Building Public Trust Award FTSE100 “Excellence in Reporting” for the years 2012 and 2008.
The judges highlighted that sustainability is firmly embedded into Anglo American’s core business strategy and noted the high-quality of reporting on sustainability governance and stakeholder engagement. Judges also commended Anglo American’s rigorous discussion of its response to specific stakeholders’ concerns and of key business risks.
Mark Cutifani, Chief Executive of Anglo American, said: “Anglo American is resolute in our commitment to build sustainability into every aspect of our business and to support this with the very best infrastructure, policies, programmes and reporting framework – put simply, our long-term success depends on it. We are delighted that our strong performance in this area has been recognised with today’s PwC FTSE100 Sustainability in Reporting Award, which follows our recent success in the FTSE100 Excellence in Reporting category. We look forward to continuing to strengthen our dialogue with our many local and global stakeholders, using our Sustainable Development Report as the basis for that conversation.”
The annual Building Public Trust Awards, sponsored by PwC, place particular focus on the clarity and transparency of reporting across the four categories of the FTSE100, the FTSE250, the public sector and overseas companies. The “Sustainability in Reporting” award assesses the depth and relevance of sustainability reporting offered throughout the publicly available information provided to stakeholders.
