Anglo American appoints new Head of Exploration
25 August, 2011
Anglo American is pleased to announce the appointment of Tracey Kerr as Group Head of Exploration.
Ms Kerr joins Anglo American from Vale, where she was Director of Exploration for the Americas with oversight of all exploration activities; from project generation to completion of pre-feasibility studies. Prior to joining Vale, Ms Kerr worked for BHP in a number of positions within the exploration and geosciences disciplines in Australia, Canada and the UK.
Ms Kerr succeeds Graham Brown, who will assume the role of Group Head of Geosciences on a full time basis, having led both the Anglo American Exploration and Geosciences divisions to date.
Brian Beamish, Group Head of Mining and Technology, Anglo American, commented: “We are delighted to welcome Tracey Kerr as Group Head of Exploration at such an exciting time for the division. Tracey brings great depth and breadth of experience in all exploration activities and has a considerable amount of expertise across commodity groups. Tracey’s experience will be invaluable to the team as we execute our frontier growth strategy.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank Graham for leading the Anglo American Exploration and Geosciences divisions so successfully. Graham and the Exploration team have been responsible for a number of key discoveries over the past decade, which have significantly contributed to Anglo American’s project portfolio.”
Anglo American’s Exploration business continues to be a major differentiator for the Group with many of the discoveries contributing to the Group’s future growth and project pipeline, as well as adding substantial value to our existing assets and operations. In 2010 we spent $136 million on exploration in 17 countries.
