Anglo American's Skorpion zinc mine in Namibia produces first metal

Anglo American's wholly owned Skorpion zinc mine in Namibia has produced first metal. The US$454 million development of the Skorpion zinc mine and refinery in southern Namibia was announced in 2001 and has been completed within budget.
The mine is expected to produce 150,000 tonnes per annum when it reaches full production. Skorpion will be one of the lowest cost zinc producers in the world.
