Undertakings to tender 33% of La Rochette's shares to Mondi's cash offer

Mondi, a subsidiary of Anglo American PLC, filed a public Offer, in cash, for La Rochette with the French Stock Exchange Market Authorities on 2nd January 2002.
To date, the total number of undertakings* to tender shares to Mondi's offer represents 33.26% of the current issued and outstanding share capital of La Rochette and notably includes the stakes of Paribas Affaires Industrielles, the unit trust AGF Invest and the investment trust AGF Opera.
David Hathorn, Chief Executive Officer of Mondi Europe, said:
"The rapid support of major La Rochette shareholders demonstrates that our offer reflects the full and fair value of La Rochette."
* As long as Mondi is the highest final cash bidder.
Mondi is being advised by Rothschild & Cie (François Henrot, Philippe Lansade).
This Offer and the distribution to the general public of the prospectus remain subject to the approval of the French stock market authorities.
