Turning used mine water into a community win

Access to water is a basic human right, but this right remains unattainable for many communities.

This short video demonstrates how used mine water is purified to potable quality water through reverse osmosis for the benefit of 80,000 residents in eMalahleni. This innovation has also allowed us to convert gypsum—the by-product from reverse osmosis—into bricks that have been used to build 66 3-bedroom homes for our employees.
