Our Applaud Awards recognise the outstanding achievements of our people

In 2010 we launched Applaud, our employee excellence awards. The awards celebrate individuals and teams for their commitment to our business, and reward the very best examples of exceptional effort in four categories derived from our core values.

The awards are open to all employees and contractors, with one individual and one team award up for grabs within each category. The categories are:

Safety: Recognising outstanding and excellent achievements in improving our safety processes, performance and culture.

Sustainability: Recognising outstanding and excellent achievements that demonstrate our commitment to operating safely, responsibly and with integrity in respect of our neighbouring communities and the environment.

Partnership: Recognising individuals and teams who have excelled at working in partnership with others, both inside and outside Anglo American, to achieve a positive and significant outcome and significant result for all involved.

Innovation: Recognising individuals and teams who have generated or applied exceptional new thinking that drives and delivers tangible results for our business and stakeholders.

Individuals or teams are nominated by colleagues from around the Group and then short-listed to the 16 finalists who have best demonstrated the characteristics of the Anglo American brand – people making a difference in a company making a difference – and who are showing how the strengths that underpin our brand are being brought to life around our businesses. The winners are then selected by the Executive Committee.

Recognising the efforts of our employees is an important part of our reward system and is vital if we are to be recognised as the employer of choice. It also demonstrates how the dedication and commitment of our individual employees can make a difference on a global scale.
