Your safety and well-being
The safety and health of our people remains our number one priority.
We believe it is possible to achieve zero harm across our Group
Whether you are working in one of our corporate offices, part of an exploration team, or on-site at our operations, we are committed to ensuring your safety.
While we recognise mining is a high-risk industry, we do not accept that there have to be injuries and fatalities. We believe it is possible to achieve zero harm across our Group – creating an injury-free workplace where each of our employees and contractors goes home safely each day.
To achieve our goal of zero harm, we have in place a robust and sustainable approach that draws upon industry-wide best practice and implements processes and procedures to remove safety risks at their core.
Zero harm, however, goes beyond safety alone. It also incorporates the general health of our employees; tackling occupational health risks and seeking to improve the overall well-being of our people. Our holistic approach looks to help employees lead healthy personal lives, which, in turn, has a positive impact on community health and public health systems. Our work in the global fight against HIV/AIDS provides a compelling argument for this proactive approach.
Collaborating with organisations such as the United Nations Global Compact, the Global Business Coalition on HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (GBC), and our own Tripartite Safety Initiative, represents just some of the ways we are sharing knowledge and working together for the benefit of our industry and beyond.
However, to succeed in our ambition of achieving zero harm, it is our employees who must embrace the safety culture we have created and commit to living our values. To ensure this happens, we are committed to providing the training, skills and knowledge that will enable them to manage safety risks effectively and make informed choices when it comes to their personal well-being.
