Practical information and applying

There are a few things you need to know about STEP before you apply.

Duration
Placements are typically 8-12 weeks long and take place between June and September. Exact timings are project dependent.

You will be able to indicate your availability during this time period on the application form.

Location
Where you get to go on your work placement varies from year to year and depends on the projects and opportunities available in our business. They are typically available in mining operations or exploration sites in Africa, South America, Asia-Australia, Canada and Northern Europe.

If you are selected for STEP you’ll need an up-to-date passport and to apply for your own work visa – although our HR team in London can help with this.

Costs
We’ll pay your travel costs to your work placement and the sponsoring business unit will arrange accommodation and provide reasonable living expenses in line with your host country.

Questions
If you have any questions about STEP that are not answered on our website please email our UK Recruitment team.

Apply for STEP
Applications for the 2012 STEP closed on Tuesday 31 January 2012.

What happens next?
If your application is successful, you will be invited (by email) to attend an interview in London with Anglo American managers.

Successful applicants will then be issued with contracts for the placement with information about location, dates, salaries and also information on any practical steps that must be completed before the placement can commence.
