Overview

With the restructure of our business in October 2009, we created a more streamlined management structure with further focus on its core mining portfolio.

These changes saw the creation of our seven core business units and the decision to divest non-core assets. At the time of the restructure we determined that the following assets were to be divested:

  • Tarmac
  • Scaw Metals
  • Copebrás
  • The Group’s portfolio of zinc assets
  • Coal operations in Venezuela

Subject to regulatory approvals, our programme to divest of these businesses has largely been completed.

Scaw South Africa, the remaining part of the Scaw Metals group is the last such business to be sold. Catalão (niobium) and Copebrás (phosphates) are both now considered core to the Group and are reported within the Other Mining and Industrial segment.
