De Beers has mining operations in Canada, Botswana, Namibia and South Africa, widespread exploration activities as well as marketing and corporate offices in the United Kingdom, and retail stores worldwide.

Canada

Snap Lake mine in the Northwest Territories and Victor Mine in Ontario were officially opened in July 2008, becoming De Beers’ first diamond mines outside of Africa. In 2011, Snap Lake and Victor mine produced a total of 1.66 million carats from 3.5 million tonnes treated.

Botswana

Debswana, a 50:50 partnership between De Beers and the Government of the Republic of Botswana operates some of the world's most famous and high value diamond mines, Damtshaa, Jwaneng, Letlhakane and Orapa. In 2011, Debswana produced 22.89 million carats from 22.88 million tonnes of ore treated.

Namibia

Namdeb is a 50:50 partnership between De Beers and the Government of the Republic of Namibia. For over 100 years Namibia has been known as a source of some of the world’s highest value gemstones.

In 2011, the Namdeb group was restructured. De Beers Marine Namibia (Pty) Limited and Namdeb Diamond Corporation (Pty) Limited became wholly owned subsidiaries of the newly established Namdeb Holdings (Pty) Limited, with all mining licenses transferring to the newly formed company. In 2011, Namdeb produced 1.335 million carats from 8.288 million tonnes treated.

South Africa

De Beers Consolidated Mines (DBCM), our South African operation, is owned in a 74/26 joint venture with Broad Based Black Economic Empowerment Partner ‘Ponahalo Holdings’. DBCM operates Venetia, Voorspoed and Kimberley diamond mines, owns Namaqualand Mines (completion of sale pending at close of 2011), and undertakes exploration on land and off the Atlantic coastline. In 2011, DBCM produced a total of 5.443 million carats from 15.525 million tonnes treated.

De Beers Diamond Jewellers (DBDJ) is an independently managed 50/50 retail joint venture partnership between De Beers and LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton. Globally, the DBDJ network consists of 44 stores across 15 countries.

Element Six, the independently managed industrial diamond group, supplies diverse global markets such as oil and gas, mining, construction, automotive, aerospace, defence, electronics, semiconductor and general engineering. It is the leading player in the markets in which it operates.
