Iron ore and Manganese

Our Iron Ore portfolio is based in South Africa and Brazil. In South Africa, we have a 69.7% shareholding in Kumba Iron Ore Limited. In Brazil, we are developing the Minas-Rio project, which is located in the states of Minas Gerais and Rio de Janeiro.

Metallurgical Coal

Our Metallurgical Coal business is Australia’s second largest metallurgical coal producer and the third largest global exporter. We are active partners in diverse clean coal energy initiatives.

Thermal Coal

Our Thermal Coal business operates in South Africa and Colombia. In South Africa, we own and operate nine mines and have a 50% interest in the Mafube colliery and Phola washing plant. In Colombia, we have one-third shareholding in Cerrejón, the country’s largest thermal coal exporter.

Copper

Our Copper business has interests in six operations in Chile. These operations comprise the wholly owned Mantos Blancos and Mantoverde mines, a 50.1% interest in Los Bronces, El Soldado and the Chagres Smelter and a 44% shareholding in the Collahuasi mine. In addition, we have a controlling interest in the Quellaveco (81.9%) and Michiquillay (100%) projects in Peru.

Nickel

Our Nickel business unit comprises two Brazilian operating assets: Codemin and Barro Alto, both ferronickel producers. Within the portfolio there are also two promising growth projects, Jacaré and Morro sem Boné, both laterite deposits which are also located in Brazil.

Niobium

Our Niobium business is located in the cities of Catalão and Ouvidor, in Goiás state, Brazil, and is one of the world’s three principal niobium producers.

Phosphates

Our Phosphates business is the second largest integrated phosphate fertiliser producer in Brazil. Its operations are vertically integrated, covering mining phosphate ore, beneficiation of the ore to produce P2O5 concentrate, and processing into intermediate and final products.
