We believe in developing mutually beneficial, sustainable relationships with our suppliers.

We promote collaborative approaches to the various supply chain activities across our business, and seek to continually develop innovative ways of working with our suppliers.
Global relationships
We work with global suppliers to bring greater efficiency to the procurement process. By collaborating with large-scale supply partners, we are able to continually find new and better ways to manage our supply chain.
Empowering local suppliers
But as well as taking the global approach, we also understand that creating supply relationships with local businesses around our operations is mutually beneficial for all involved. Our enterprise development arm, Anglo Zimele works closely with Anglo American helping to identify BEE suppliers who can work with our South African business.
Anglo American’s South African businesses spent R17.3 billion on consumables, services and capital from black-owned small and medium enterprises in 2007. This was a 41% increase on the 2006 figure of R12.3 billion and amounts to 37% of total available spend (excluding goods and services from parastatals and municipalities).
In 2007, Anglo American Zimele invested in nine new companies involved in the mining supply chain such as the manufacture and repair of dragline buckets and other mine equipment, the testing of underground roofbolts, and bus transport for mine employees as well as the general public.
We've now also adapted and exported this enterprise development model to our operations to Chile.
